Auditions
Auditions are held before each concert during the school year to gain entry into the student spotlight portion of each ensemble concert.

Auditions are also held in the 4th quarter for entry into the next level of classes. The students are adjudicated on the following 5 categories of musicianship: Right/Left-hand technique, Posture, Rhythm, Accuracy, and Musicality. Additionally, playing tests will also use this rubric.

What is the Sky Pointe Conservatory?
· The Sky Pointe Conservatory is a select program that exists to provide Sky Pointe Arts students with elite level growth opportunities in the Performing Arts, including Dance, Theatre, Choir, and Symphony and now Guitar Studies starting 2025-26.

What are the Benefits of being a Conservatory student?
· Priority Registration – Conservatory students will be able to work directly with school counselors to ensure they are enrolled in their choice classes that directly relate to their track. Additionally, Conservatory students will be able to apply for Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement programs and additional electives if their schedule allows.
· Conservatory Advisory – Conservatory students will have an exclusive advisory class where they will be able to meet with Master teachers, collaborate with other conservatory students, prepare for festivals and competitions, and dedicate an additional class specifically to their craft.
· Free Dress Days – On Advisory days, Conservatory Students will be granted permission to wear free dress within school code of conduct.
· Conservatory Showcase/Gala – Once a year, our Conservatory will come together in a high-level collaborative performance to showcase their talents and growth.
· Field Trips/Festivals – Individual tracks will have their own field trips and festivals based on their focuses, and the entire Conservatory will plan to attend a collaborative trip within 2 years of inauguration.
· Master Classes/Private Lessons – Each track will have access to Master/Guest teachers who specialize in interests that are specific to each track, such as vocal lessons, sectionals, percussion coaching, directors, choreography, college recruitment or information, union representation, professional opportunities, etc.
· Comradery – These are YOUR people! There is nothing like being a part of a community of like-minded people. Life is already better as an Eagle, but it is the very BEST when you surround yourselves with those who will elevate you and help you soar!
Where will Conservatory Students perform?
· Sky Pointe has plans to build a Performing Arts Center as part of a 3-phase expansion of our campus and will include a 400+ seat auditorium, 6 large classrooms dedicated to Performing Arts, practice rooms, state-of-the-art technical equipment, and a scene shop.
· In the meantime, the Conservatory will seek resources to upgrade our current spaces to improve lighting, sound, and seating or partner with neighboring venues to provide an authentic theatrical experience.
· It is important to note that the “Conservatory” is a program that will begin implementation in the 2024-2025; whereas, the Performing Arts Center is the physical building that will house the Conservatory in the future.
· Conservatory Students will also be invited and encouraged to perform around and out of town, including: Utah Shakespeare Festival, Solo/Ensemble Festivals, Dance Competitions, Sporting events, home games, and other promotional events.
What are the Requirements to be a part of the Conservatory?
· Must be a Sky Pointe High School Student, grades 9-12 for the 2024-2025 school year.
· Must currently have a cumulative GPA for 2.75 and commit to maintaining a 3.0 GPA if you are admitted.
· Must adhere to track-specific requirements, such as participating in festivals, competitions, or after-school productions. Reach out to individual directors for specifics.
